While many won’t remember, there used to a fully enriched comedy series on Channel 4 called “FATHER TED”, it out-rated other comedy shows like they were superficial, while steaming ahead to become one of TV’s GREATEST… and did, until the lead actor died. High Rock Gordon, the location of “THE WEE FELLAS” Series, has been written with these common (and sometimes over-looked) ingredients, to bring together comedy that lands correctly, drama when it is needed and chaos, that becomes its key. INT. POLICE STATION – INTERVIEW ROOM – NIGHT
STUART sits under a buzzing light. BIG WILLIE leads the questioning with VIRGINIA present and visibly appalled.
BIG WILLIE
Why are you such a private person, Mr Freeman?
STUART
Because you lot exist.
BIG WILLIE
Deflection, a very common concealment trigger.
VIRGINIA
Chief Super, being quiet is not an offence.
BIG WILLIE
No, but it’s anti-social adjacent. Let me tell you, Mr Freeman, I don’t tolerate small talk from any of my officers, so I will not tolerate it from you. Now, start talking.
PATRICK enters holding a women’s scarf in an evidence bag and three marbles in his other hand.
PATRICK
Found this near the station bins.
STUART
That’s not mine. I’ve never seen that before in my life.
PATRICK
Interesting. Nobody said it was.
STUART
You’re stitching me up.
PATRICK
Not exactly.
WILLIAM bursts in.
WILLIAM
WE’VE GOT MOVEMENT AT GORDON’S PEAK.
RON appears just behind him, soaked and solemn.
RON
Someone’s gone up there with a torch and a shovel. A passerby phoned it in as suspicious.
BIG WILLIE stands.
BIG WILLIE
Right, everyone move, mobilize Armed Response, wake them up if you have to… bribe them if you need to.
STUART
Am I under arrest?
BIG WILLIE
Temporarily irrelevant, Mr Freeman, we will however, be giving a cell for the evening.
STUART
Then I demand my phone call and a cup of tea… with a bun, and not those you get from that cheap mini-mart near the broken dentist on Main Street.
PATRICK
Oh, into surveillance are we? Well, Mr Freeman, so are we, the only difference being, we’re a lot better at it.
Big Willie nods to the officers to take Stuart to a cell, while he leaves for the car pool to meet up with the small deployment team.
