More than 30-years-ago now, during my short story phase, I created a strong character for a Science Fiction action Series: Captain Kasabian Valentine. Eventually, working around this character, a ship was created to fit both the story-line and Valentine’s Back-Story, it is called: THE SOUTHERN SUN.

30-years on, we have this –

This Scene is when THE SOUTHERN SUN returns to Bryn (Home World), after fighting The Transmech and Space Pirates… 150 years in the future –

INT. PALACE — EXECUTION COURTYARD

Torches burn against the night sky, hundreds of soldiers stand watching. A crowd has gathered. Public spectacle. At the center stands THE NEGAS. Katerina is forced to her knees, while Valentine and the crew are dragged in behind her. The Negas addresses the crowd.

THE NEGAS
Bryn demands loyalty.

His voice echoes through the courtyard.

THE NEGAS (CONT’D)
And loyalty requires
demonstration.

He gestures toward Katerina.

THE NEGAS (CONT’D)
This woman stands beside a man
who hides secrets from the
Senate, from the people of this
great and fruitful planet.

He pulls a pistol from his coat. Valentine shouts.

VALENTINE
Don’t–

The Negas doesn’t hesitate, he fires. The shot echoes across the courtyard as Katerina collapses. The crowd gasp, Silas freezes, Valentine stares. But something strange then happens. Blood pools beneath her. Yet– Her breathing continues, slow, steady. The Negas notices. His expression shifts. Curiosity replacing cruelty. He kneels beside her, examining the wound. He whispers quietly.

THE NEGAS
Interesting.

He stands, addressing the soldiers.

THE NEGAS (CONT’D)
She lives.

The soldiers murmur. The Negas smiles slightly.

THE NEGAS (CONT’D)
Take her to the medical wing.

He looks at Valentine with sharpened eyes.

THE NEGAS (CONT’D)
I think this one is far more
valuable alive than the bounty on
your head, Captain.

Beat.

He turns to the guards.

THE NEGAS (CONT’D)
As for the rest of them… Put them back in their cage.

Valentine watches as they carry Katerina away, her eyes open briefly, just enough to meet his. Something ancient flickers there, something that neither of them fully understands.

TiME RAiDERS: COBALT DREAMS (PILOT EPISODE) will be showcased this year at Cannes Film Festival, as well as The New York Film Festival in August 2026.
